‘A’ LEVEL AND AS RESULTS
GOOD NEWS:
It is good to share the Education Minister’s announcement this afternoon https://gov.wales/statement-minister-education-kirsty-williams confirming that all pupils in years 12 and 13 will now receive the ‘centre assessed grade ‘.
As you know, the Centre’s assessment grade was the school’s professional judgement of the most likely grade a student would have had if the exams had gone ahead. It was based on careful consideration of a range of evidence including mock examinations, non-exam assessment and any other record of a student’s performance over the course of study. Each subject considered a suitable range of evidence for their course. All grades and rankings were checked and signed internally by two teachers, checked by a member of the senior leadership team before being submitted to the examination boards finally by the headteacher for their June deadline. We await further information on how the grades will be officially shared with the pupils and as soon as we know, we will share them with all our pupils by e-mail. This information will be shared on our website, our Twitter acccount, on SMHW and by text.
