Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bryn Tawe

Covid-19

CHANGES TO THE DISTRIBUTION OF FREE SCHOOL MEALS

Vouchers for use in supermarkets will not be provided by the Welsh Government, as has been mentioned as a possibility. Instead, each Local Authority is expected to provide a local solution.

From Monday the 27/04/20, we will be providing a weekly food pack for packed lunches (which will include food you can prepare for everyday lunch e.g. a loaf of bread, a tin of tuna, ham, cheese, crisps, biscuits etc…) for all pupils that are eligible for FSM.

We are offering to deliver these on the Monday of each week. If you want to receive a weekly food pack for packed lunches, then fill in this questionnaire for every child from Bryn Tawe you wish to apply for: https://bit.ly/DosbPYD-FSMSdelivery .

If you already receive packs from us, you do not need to complete the questionnaire again.

PPE Visors

Great to see some of the staff in school producing some PPE visors for our health care workers – over 150 produced today!

If you are a parent who works in the care sector and would benefit from using a visor in your daily work, or know of workers in our community who could benefit, then contact us at school to arrange collection or delivery. See the pictures below:

ARRANGEMENTS FOR EMERGENCY CHILDCARE PROVISION

The school will be open from Monday the 23rd of March for pupils who require emergency childcare between 08:00 – 17:00. Please see the most recent advice from the Minsiter for Education and Skills highlighting that children should only attend if there are no other childcare options available. Naturally this is in line with the most recent government guidance on social distancing.

Only the pupils of parents that have completed the recent questionnaire issued last Thursday will be permitted to attend. If you are a ‘key worker’ and meet the criteria in the questionnaire (shared last Thursday via text), it is still possible to complete it if necessary.

Parents must contact the Headteacher via e-mail to confirm whether or not their child/ren will attend. Can you kindly complete and return the personal details form (here) and the Emergency childcare arrangements form (here)

LUNCH FOR PUPILS WHO ARE ENTITLED TO FREE SCHOOL MEALS:

If your child is currently eligible for free school meals, it is possible to collect a ‘Grab Bag’ for your child whilst they are away from school.

Please complete th questionnaire before 10:00 Monday the 23rd of March for us to be able to organise a Grab Bag’ for your child: https://bit.ly/ArchebPYD-FSMOrder

Key Worker Questionnaire

Following further consultation in response to the Covid-19 emergency , Swansea’s Local Authority in conjunction with Welsh Government has decided that schools are going to be re-purposed to provide emergency childcare for the children of key workers in the first instance.
The definition of key worker at present is those who work for the emergency services “blue light services” e.g. NHS staff/Police/Fire service/Prison workers/social workers/school workers. This service will be available between the hours of 8am and 5pm during Monday to Friday, and located (in the first instance) at your child’s current school.
Therefore, we kindly ask that ONLY parents who are classified as keyworkers respond to the questionnaire:
