ARRANGEMENTS FOR EMERGENCY CHILDCARE PROVISION

The school will be open from Monday the 23rd of March for pupils who require emergency childcare between 08:00 – 17:00. Please see the most recent advice from the Minsiter for Education and Skills highlighting that children should only attend if there are no other childcare options available. Naturally this is in line with the most recent government guidance on social distancing.

Only the pupils of parents that have completed the recent questionnaire issued last Thursday will be permitted to attend. If you are a ‘key worker’ and meet the criteria in the questionnaire (shared last Thursday via text), it is still possible to complete it if necessary.

Parents must contact the Headteacher via e-mail to confirm whether or not their child/ren will attend. Can you kindly complete and return the personal details form (here) and the Emergency childcare arrangements form (here)

LUNCH FOR PUPILS WHO ARE ENTITLED TO FREE SCHOOL MEALS:

If your child is currently eligible for free school meals, it is possible to collect a ‘Grab Bag’ for your child whilst they are away from school.

Please complete th questionnaire before 10:00 Monday the 23rd of March for us to be able to organise a Grab Bag’ for your child: https://bit.ly/ArchebPYD-FSMOrder

Key Worker Questionnaire

Following further consultation in response to the Covid-19 emergency , Swansea’s Local Authority in conjunction with Welsh Government has decided that schools are going to be re-purposed to provide emergency childcare for the children of key workers in the first instance.
The definition of key worker at present is those who work for the emergency services “blue light services” e.g. NHS staff/Police/Fire service/Prison workers/social workers/school workers. This service will be available between the hours of 8am and 5pm during Monday to Friday, and located (in the first instance) at your child’s current school.
Therefore, we kindly ask that ONLY parents who are classified as keyworkers respond to the questionnaire:

Corona Virus updates (EN)

Our first priority as always is to ensure the health and well-being of or pupils and staff. We are currently monitoring the public health situation very closely and are continuing to follow the advice issued by Welsh Government, Public Health Wales and the CIty and County of Swansea LA. If your child displays any of the symptoms such as a high temperature, continuous coughing, shortness of breath,or a sore throat then please follow the current advice issued and self-isolate for the recommended period. Bothlinks below will offer you up-to-date advice on what to do:

As a result of thecontinuing spread of the ‘coronavirus’, we have made the decision as a school tocancel all extra curricular activity, parents’evenings, visits to school from outside providers and tripsby pupils and staff, in addition to school assemblies. We will continue to hold meetings with agencies that support the well-being and progress of our pupils. Our focus will remain soley on the teaching and learning of our pupils during this period.

We are also preparing to be able to continue to support the learning of our pupils remotely if we reach a situation where schools may be forced to close.Naturally, access to digital resources is essential to access the groups such as ‘Hwb Classrooms’and ‘Microsoft Teams’. We have collected the names of pupils whomay not have access to digital equipment and are preparing to lend schoolequipment to as many of these individuals as possible in order to access these resources. If your son or daughter requires support with digital resources, please contact me at school. Staff have also prepared papercopies of resources for pupils to continue their independent study at home if required.

We will stay in contact with our pupils to be able to work remotely and parents to be able to support their child viathe Show My Homework app. Can you please ensure that you have access to the app and check it regularly for any updated tasks and work. If you currently don’t have access can you contact Mr Hywel Pugh via his e-mail:PughH25@hwbcymru.netor contact him at the school directly and he will ensure that you receiveaccess to all of the information shared.

In the meantime, we will continue to encourage all pupils and staff to take steps to avoid and reduce the transfer of the virus through the following recommendations:

  • Wash your hands with soap and water often –do this for at least 20 seconds
  • Wash your hands every time you arrive at and leave school
  • Use a hand sanitiser gel (if there is no soap or water available)
  • Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze

We are facing a very challenging and changeable situation, but wecontinue tomake every effort to keep in contact with our parents (please check our website and our twitter account -@bryntawe –regularly). Please get in touchshould you have any further questionsor concerns.
