World Book Day 2018

World Book Day was celebrated once again this year with a variety of activities. The celebrations started with a World Book Day assembly. The sixth form led the assembly during which a DVD was shown which had been created over recent weeks and which showed staff and sixth form members talking about their favourite books.

During break time, a coffee morning was held and Siop Tŷ Tawe came to sell various books.

A group of Year 9 pupils had the opportunity to read with pupils from Ysgol Tirdeunaw, Ysgol Lôn-las, Ysgol y Cwm and Ysgol Tan-y-Lan. Five stories were read to the children in rotation and a vote was held to determine which book was the children’s favourite.

During the lunch hour, a book quiz was held for pupils and staff which was a lot of fun!

The book “Doniau Disglair” was launched and sold for £1 during the day. The short book features the work of all literary competition winners in this year’s Saint David’s Ceremony.

We hope this reminds everyone of the enjoyment which is to be had from reading books.
