Under 14 County’s Netball Development Squad

Caitlin Rees-Godwin of year 9, Tianna McIntosh and Georgia Reynolds of Year 8, and Megan Morris of year 7 have been chosen to be part of the County’s Under 14 Netball Development Squad. Congratulations girls and good luck with the training and games!

Under 16’s and 18’s County Netball Development Squad

Katie Llewellyn, Finny Rees Godwin and Buddug Llyr (Under 16) and Angharad Morris (Under 18) have been chose for the County’s Netball development Squad. They train weekly, and are working towards representing the county in the Welsh Championship. Good luck to you girls, and congratulations!

Cross Country – County Championship

Many of the pupils competed in the cross country county championship, and a great effort was made by all. As a result, the following have been chosen to represent the County in the Welsh schools Championship. Big congratulations to Hywelis Thomas, Siwan Thomas, Geraint Meek, Ben Williams and Carwyn Evans.

Urdd Netball Competition

Congratulations to the girls who competed in the Urdd Netball tournament last November in Cardiff. There were around 40 school’s competing in every year group. Once again the girls represented the school, with great success.

  • Year 7 and 8 done really well, and have obviously gained form the experience. Well done!
  • Year 9 and 10 girls did well to reach the semi final – by wining their 8 pool games easily: v’s St Teilo, 9-0; v’s Cwmtawe, 6-3; v’s cymer, 7-0, v’s Gwynllyw, 7-2; v’s Bishopgore, 5-2; v’s Corpus Christie, 6-5; v’s Bro Morgannwg, 4-3; v’s Glantaf 2-0. They then came up against Glan y Mor in the next round, and won by 5 goals to 2, then onto Cwm Rhymni in the semi final. The game was very close throughout, but they lost in the last minute by 1 goal. Huge congratulations to you girls!
  • The Year 11 – 13 girls did remarkably well as they competed against many 6th form colleges. Here are the results, and even though they lost every game, they were very close, and the girls have benefited from their experience; v’s St David’s College, 3-5; v’s Pencoed College, 4-5; v’s St Cennydd, 5-6; v’s Ystalyfera, 3-6; v’s Carmarthenshire college, 6-4. Well done!

Athlete of the Competition

Catrin Roberts form year 9 competed in the Swansea schools indoor athletics championship before Christmas. It was a competitive evening, with Catrin winning athlete of the competition. Congratulations Catrin and good luck with the training for the summer.

Cross Country Results

Congratulations to everyone who competed in the County cross country competition. The effort and devotion was exceptional. Here are the results:

  • Year 7 girls team: Amber Williams 13th, Megan Bowden 14th, Annest Phillips 18th, Elen Cherry 22nd, Elen Smith 25th, Lauren Rogers 26th, Lucia Festa 31st and Lucy Steele, 35th.
  • Year 8 and 9 girls team: Siwan Thomas 1st, Catrin Roberts 10th, Emma Beynon 23rd, Sabrina Owen 22nd.
  • Year 7 boys team: Ben Williams 1st, Kyle Artis 13th, Ieuan Richards 15th, Jaques Shaw 19th, Oliver Draper 24th.
  • Year 8 and 9 boys’ team: Declan Walters 12th, Rhys Underdown 13th, Ashley Morris 16th, Aled Tomos 19th, Gwilym Davies 20th, Mile Meredith 22nd and Gwion Lewis 27th.
  • Year 10 and 11 team: Hywelis Thomas 1st, Carwyn Evans 2nd and Geraint Meek 5th.
